NewsBank announced last week the launch of NewsInHistory.com, a subscription service for historical US Newspapers published from 1800-2000. The full URL of the site is http://www.newsinhistory.com/.

The announcement described “thousands” of historical newspapers but if that’s not information for you check the title list at http://www.newsinhistory.com/title_list/. It’s sorted by state. You can also do a
simple keyword search, or using the advanced search you can search by date, keyword, city, state, or publication name.

No, of course this isn’t going to be free. At the moment the site is running a special; unlimited access for a year for $99.95. You can also do month-by-month access for $19.95. Without a membership the amount of information you can get is extremely limited — search results show headline, date, publication name, and location.
