Ixquick announced this morning that it has launched a new Web site to give its users something easier to spell than Ixquick. The new site is located at http://startpage.com/. The underlying technology is the same.
Ixquick does Web, video, and image searching, but probably what it’s known for is its privacy policy. Ixquick doesn’t use cookies, supports HTTPS, and has as of January 2009 stopped recording IP addresses.
I don’t have much occasion to use metasearch engines, but Ixquick’s Web search is an interesting mix: you can search everything from Google to Cuil to Exalead to Bing to Gigablast. That’s certainly a wide spectrum of coverage!…
