Stained Glass, Google, Serendip-O-Matic, More: Short Wednesday Buzz, August 14, 2013

Not quite finished but now available: an online archive of medieval stained glass windows in Britain.

Robin Good looks at user-curated search engine zResearch. Seems like it’s in a bit of a holding pattern at the moment.

Have you seen this Doctor Who Easter egg on Google Maps?

More Google: it has officially retired its old GMail composition interface for the new one which personally I hate. PC World shows you a little fix to make it somewhat better.

Even MORE Google: Google has added more “special collections” imagery to Google Maps.

I LOVE it! Check out Serendip-O-Matic. Put in some text or connect to a Zotero account and Serendip-O-Matic searches major collections and spits out relevant stuff. It’s not perfect, it’s not even half-perfect, but what an interesting idea. Great to play with.

Wow, 47 alternatives to YouTube? And one custom search engine? Yes please. Good afternoon, Internet…
